HelpCardTexas 09/23/13 Brazos County: College Station police requested public assistance in finding a dog that bit a woman. The victim said she was bitten Saturday around midnight in the area of Texas and Dominik. She told police she was reaching down to grab a mid-sized white dog when it bit her on the face. The dog then ran off and the victim was treated at a local hospital for a bite to her nose then released. College Station Animal Control is asking for help locating the dog so rabies can be ruled out. When located, the dog will need to be observed for ten days from the time of the bite for signs of rabies infection. Horses can get the virus after being bitten by an infected mosquito. The disease is more common in the eastern part of the state than in other geographic regions. tarrant cty TXTexas 09/20/13 Tarrant County: Officials have confirmed two new human cases of WNV have been reported in Fort Worth. One is a woman in her 80s who has the milder version of the mosquito-borne illness known as West Nile fever. The other is a man in his 30s who contracted the more serious West Nile neuro-invasive disease.
